You just can't go wrong with wax fruit for your faux food candles.  Just decorate the top of your candles with these pieces for a look all your own!  We use these pieces for many of our candles.  See how we topped our handmade apple pie with apple pieces and placed a wax pecan on top!

Candle Molds

Flexable candle molds for making your own apple, peach, or pecan pieces. Use over and over again.  We have used our molds thousand of times.  Just store your flex mold on a flat surface away from excessive heat or cold. Pour wax into mold at 150 degrees.

Each flex mold was handmade by our staff, now you can make your own and cut out the middle man...or gal.  You will never have to pay for your wax embeds again.  Save tons of money by doing it yourself.

I so sound like a commercial and I don't mean to.  We aren't making anymoney from telling you about this.

But We can't make candle molds any more and make all the candles too.

So from now on you will have to make your own molds.  If there is a special wax mold you want.  Just make it!

Don't waste your money on shipping fees and never having enough pieces. Having your own mold is so much easier.  You will see lots of people on ebay selling these molds and
charging you an arm and leg.

Try Smooth-On.com to purchase Mold Max 20 or Mold Max 30.  You can make a great mold for yourself, make all the embeds you want, get the shapes you want, the colors, and you don't have to wait for someone else.  Silicone is what we use to make wax molds for wax pieces.  It is really easy to use.  I like tupperware as the base when I use Mold Max 30, but any plastic will do.  I make my own with speciality molds from with products from SmoothOn.  You can too.  This is where I buy my silicone mold making materials from.

Now, quickly I will try and explain how I make molds from Mold Max.

Most companies will come at you with a higher then thou attitude about 10 to 1 gram/grams ratio of part A to part B. Frankly, some people won't know what that means, don't want to hear about part A or part B, and don't care, they just want plain English.

So here it goes -  It means that if you weighed out a pound of the thick white silicone mold max stuff , then you should add 1.6 oz of the blue liquid silicone mold max stuff and mix the two together.  Now you have silicone ready to make a mold with.  I really can't make it any simpler then that.

But the main company will only give you dribble about how if you don't use the gram scales and their product doesn't hold up, they won't be responsible....so be it.  I have always mixed one pound to 1.6 oz and it has worked fine for me, but I won't make any claims how it will work for you.  My scales, for making molds, doesn't have grams.

Use only plastic to mix the silicone mold max together in.  If fact, don't use anything else - plastic bowl to mix in and a plastic spoon to mix with, and a plastic container to pour it in.  Plastic, I like the Tupperware the best, but any plastic will do.

Here are the tools you will need to make a mold.
Plastic mold, plastic mixing spoon, plastic container to use as a mold for making your wax pieces mold, tacky glue, acrylic spray or brush on clear acrylic - get this at any craft store,  and your mold max.

Now what do you want to make a mold of....lets say pecan halves that you got at the grocery store this morning, or those rice crispy treats you made for desert last night, tiny cinnamon buns????  Just think of the possibilities!

Ok, take the tacky glue, glue the bottoms of the pecans to, lets say a 10" by 6" plastic container.  Make sure they are glued.  Shake it upside down and if any fall out, they weren't glued down.

Next, coat the nuts with acrylic spray or brush on acrylic.  Let dry.

Then, mix your measured part's A and part's B mold max.  Stir quick and make sure it is stirred good.  That is important.  It has to be mixed.

Now pour the mold max over the nuts. Let it settle, maybe tap the container on the sides to get some of the bubbles out.  Let it sit over night.  In the morning, if you did it correctly, you will have your own mold.

Yes, this works for strawberries, apple slices, pineapple slices, cookies, what ever you want.
How did you think those silicone molds were made on ebay...yes, the ones they charge an arm and leg for?  Make your own and save money.

On the other hand, for those of you who haven't the time and want someone else to make the mold. Or you don't want to hassle making your own mold, see the link at the bottom of the page.  I will add pictures of the process, the next time I make a mold for myself.

Short note - this stuff works for making copies of anything plaster too....like fancy vintage molding or trim too.  I don't know if this information can help anyone, but this stuff isn't just for candle making.  Use your imagination - how else can you make money???  America, my friends, no limits!

If you want to make a grubby candle without an expensive mold, just start with your votive cup base mold candle - like the brown votive pictured - and follow the instructions in our candle making instructions section (page 2??) and grunge it up.  Just wait till the wax starts to cool down, mix the wax with a beater (we use an old hand held mixer that we found at a flea market), and drag/dip the votive thru the grunge.  Wait a couple secounds and drag the votive thru again.  Sit on a cooling tray (we use pizza pans) until cooled completely.
Like that ideal?  Try grunging the whole votive in cream color, several dips, let cool - then dip the bottom half in another grundge color.  Wow, a two toned oversized grubby!  Tie a little piece of material aroung the middle, pure country.
Try three colors - say red, white, and blue!  The whole votive has been dipped several times in off - white cream, then the top is dipped in red and the bottom is dipped in blue!   WOW!   Its your imagination!
